Air Jordan 3 'White Cement Re-imagined' (2023) EXPLAINED! | The Assist
Welcomes viewers to another episode of The Assist where they break down the unique aspects, history, and hype surrounding popular shoe models.
Today's focus is on the reimagined Jordan 3 Cement.
History of the Jordan 3 'White Cement Re-imagined'
The Jordan 3 Cement Reimagined continues the series started with the Jordan 1 Chicago Reimagined, also known as "Lost and Found".
Jordan 3 was initially released in 1988. Tinker Hatfield was tasked with creating the shoe in a limited timeframe and used soft, supple leather to give it a 'broken-in' feel from the first wear.
This reimagined model follows the original color scheme, with fiery red accents, and Elephant Print at the toe and heel.
Behind the Design
In a twist from the original, the reimagined model uses a sail colorway for the heel tab and sole to evoke a vintage aesthetic. The OG tag is also included on the shoe, though Roe would personally remove it.
The shoe design also features a perforated leather under the tongue and around the collar, pebbled leather, suede for the Elephant Print, TPU for the heel tab, classic Rubber Sole, and EVA foam in the sole. Some models even feature varying thicknesses of Elephant Print, adding to the uniqueness of each pair.
Notably, a large empty panel on the side of the Jordan 3 is a remnant from when Tinker Hatfield initially included a Nike swoosh, before Jordan became a brand.
The Jordan 3 White Cement Re-imagined fits true to size and is quite comfortable due to its width and sturdy frame. The mid-range height also provides a comfortable fit.
The packaging for the reimagined model is also designed to feel vintage, similar to finding an old pair of Jordans in a closet. The intention is to evoke nostalgia and give a nod to the shoe's history.
