The adidas Campus 80s 'South Park Towelie' (2021) brings one of South Park’s most recognisable characters to one of adidas Originals’ classic silhouettes. Released on April 20, 2021, the collaboration draws directly from Towelie, the animated series’ eccentric talking towel, with a distinctive Chalk Purple and Footwear White colour scheme. The adidas Campus 80s is transformed with a terry cloth upper, white leather Three Stripes and playful Towelie-inspired detailing, making this collaboration a particularly characterful addition to the Campus lineage.
Overview
The adidas Campus 80s 'South Park Towelie' features a purple terry cloth upper designed to replicate Towelie’s signature texture, complemented by white leather Three Stripes, heel detailing and a white rubber sole. The standout feature is found on the tongue, where Towelie’s eyes are rendered with UV-sensitive material that changes from white to red when exposed to UV light. Inside the tongue, a hidden pocket is accompanied by Towelie’s familiar phrases, while the insoles feature South Park and adidas branding. The original release also included Towelie-themed keychains and a custom adidas x South Park shoebox. With its combination of classic adidas styling and unmistakable South Park references, the Campus 80s Towelie offers a distinctive take on a retro sneaker.
Key Highlights
• South Park x adidas Collaboration: Brings the iconic Towelie character to the classic adidas Campus 80s silhouette.
• Purple Terry Cloth Upper: Features Towelie-inspired terry cloth throughout the upper, paired with contrasting white leather Three Stripes.
• UV-Sensitive Towelie Eyes: The embroidered eyes on the tongue change from white to red when exposed to UV light, adding a distinctive interactive detail.
