The Nike KD 18 'Aunt Pearl' (2025) continues one of the most meaningful traditions in Nike Basketball history, blending elite on-court innovation with a deeply personal tribute from Kevin Durant. As part of the long-running “Aunt Pearl” series—first introduced on the KD 4 in 2012—this special edition honors Durant’s late aunt, who passed away from lung cancer in 2000. The 2025 release maintains the signature pink aesthetic synonymous with the collection while incorporating performance-driven updates found in Durant’s eighteenth signature silhouette.
Overview
Dressed in a vibrant palette of Pearl Pink, Tulip Pink, Playful Pink, and Laser Fuchsia, the Nike KD 18 'Aunt Pearl' delivers a layered, tonal look that has become synonymous with the tribute series. The upper features breathable open-holed sandwich mesh designed to enhance airflow and reduce weight during gameplay, while a structured plastic midfoot cage provides containment and adaptive support. Floral rose graphics appear across the TPU lace eyelets and midfoot overlay, with the same motif extending to the sockliner, reinforcing the sentimental theme of the design.
Underfoot, the KD 18 combines Cushlon foam with a responsive forefoot Air Zoom unit to deliver explosive energy return and comfort throughout the game. A supportive plate works in tandem with the cushioning system to create a stable and snappy first step, while the pink-speckled midsole and translucent gum outsole complete the sneaker’s distinctive aesthetic. Additional details include “Aunt Pearl” text on the inner tongue, KD branding, and soft off-white accents on the Swoosh and logos. Released on October 7, 2025, the pair also continues Durant’s philanthropic mission, with proceeds supporting the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
