The New Balance 550 ‘Syracuse’ (2021) reimagines the heritage basketball silhouette through a refined collegiate lens, drawing inspiration from Syracuse University’s iconic orange and white colour palette. Originally introduced in 1989 as a performance basketball model, the New Balance 550 was revived in collaboration with Aimé Leon Dore, cementing its place in contemporary sneaker culture as a staple that bridges vintage sport aesthetics with modern streetwear appeal. The ‘Syracuse’ edition stands out for its clean execution and bold yet balanced use of colour, reinforcing the model’s timeless versatility.
Overview
Constructed with a premium white leather upper, the sneaker is accented by vibrant orange overlays that appear across the collar, heel counter, and signature branding elements, delivering a sharp contrast that defines its collegiate identity. Perforated detailing enhances breathability while maintaining the shoe’s structured basketball DNA. A cushioned midsole supports everyday comfort, while the rubber outsole ensures durable traction rooted in its court heritage. The overall composition reflects New Balance’s commitment to understated craftsmanship paired with expressive, heritage-driven storytelling. Authenticity is guaranteed with PUSHAS, where every pair is meticulously authenticated by our team of experts.
