The ASICS Gel-NYC 2.0 SSHS HAL STUDIOS Architecture of Everyday Life ‘Mahogany’ (2026) represents a considered evolution of modern performance footwear through the lens of utilitarian design. Continuing the long-running partnership between ASICS and Australian design studio HAL STUDIOS, this release builds on the “Architecture of Everyday Life” concept, which focuses on functionality, restraint, and longevity rather than trend-driven aesthetics. Rooted in the Gel-NYC lineage, the silhouette blends technical running heritage with a refined, lifestyle-ready execution that reflects HAL STUDIOS’ design ethos.
Overview
The Gel-NYC 2.0 is constructed around a layered upper that draws from archival ASICS running models, combining breathable mesh with structured overlays commonly associated with the GEL-NYC family. The ‘Mahogany’ colourway introduces a deep, earthy brown palette that reinforces the collaboration’s emphasis on natural tones and everyday wearability. Underfoot, the sneaker utilises ASICS’ proven GEL cushioning technology in the heel and forefoot, delivering impact absorption and all-day comfort. A sculpted midsole and durable rubber outsole provide stability and traction, making the model suitable for extended urban use. Subtle co-branding and restrained detailing ensure the design remains understated, aligning with the Architecture of Everyday Life philosophy that prioritises function, material honesty, and timeless appeal.
