Why 2025-26 Topps Chrome Basketball matters

For the 2025-26 season, the NBA trading card licence moved to Topps, which is now part of Fanatics. That ended a long gap: 2025-26 is the first season of fully licensed Topps NBA cards since the 2009-10 season. The partnership was announced by Fanatics Collectibles, the NBA and the NBPA as a multiyear deal.

Flagship 2025-26 Topps Basketball arrived first. Topps Chrome Basketball followed on 18 December 2025.

The Chrome design: chromium stock and Refractors

Topps Chrome is built on chromium stock with Refractor technology, which gives every card its reflective finish. The 2025-26 set comes with a wide run of colour and tech parallels. Standard Refractors sit at the base of the ladder, colour variants climb through numbered tiers, and FrozenFractors numbered to five and one-of-one SuperFractors sit at the top.

Rookies in the set include Cooper Flagg, Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey, with established stars across the rest of the set. Ultra Violet appears as a Hobby-exclusive super short print insert, and Victor Wembanyama is among the stars on the autograph chase.

Every box explained

Topps Chrome Basketball Mega Box

The Mega Box is a retail format of the flagship Chrome release. Each box holds seven packs, and X-Fractor parallels are its headline chase.

Topps Chrome Update Series Basketball Mega Box

The Update Series Mega Box arrived later in the season. Its base set uses updated in-season photography, including Statement, City and Classic Edition uniforms, and it adds depth to the rookie class, with Flagg, Harper and Knueppel among the names. Each Mega Box holds seven packs of six cards, with RayWave Refractors among its Mega-exclusive parallels. The Update Series also brings Rookie Debut Patch Autographs to Topps Basketball for the first time, one-of-one cards built around patches from each player's NBA debut.

Topps Chrome Cactus Jack Basketball Hobby Box

The Topps Chrome Cactus Jack Basketball Hobby Box is the collaboration release. Travis Scott's Cactus Jack brand reworks Chrome with a street-inspired look: brick walls and chain-link basketball nets appear across the designs. A limited Cactus Jack edition first appeared at NBA All-Star Weekend in February 2026, and the full basketball release followed on 19 June 2026.

The set runs to 100 cards of veterans and rookies, with Flagg, Harper, Edgecombe, Knueppel and Bailey in the rookie group. Inserts include Utopia Highlights and La Flame Legends, with Astrovision and Cactus Mode as the short-print chases, plus Cactus Ink autographs. Each Hobby Box holds 20 packs of four cards.
