What an Elite Trainer Box actually is

Every Elite Trainer Box is themed around one expansion, and the formula holds from era to era: a run of booster packs, card sleeves in the set's artwork, Basic Energy cards, dice, a player's guide and a reusable collector's box with dividers. Recent boxes add a promo card too. Players get sleeves, energy and dice for a new deck; collectors get a display box and, in recent boxes, a promo card.

The Pokémon Center version of the 30th Celebration Elite Trainer Box adds two extra booster packs and a second Nidorina promo with the Pokémon Center logo.

1. Pokémon TCG 30th Celebration Elite Trainer Box

The 30th Celebration set marks thirty years of Pokémon, and every card in it is foil. Each booster pack holds five foil cards and a foil Basic Energy, and one of the five is always a Pikachu, drawn from 30 different Pikachu cards across the set's 128 main cards. A 30-card Classic Collection brings back cards from the game's history, and the new Futuristic Rare treatment lands on Mewtwo ex and Mew ex.

2. Pokémon TCG Scarlet & Violet 151 Elite Trainer Box

Released on 22 September 2023, 151 went back to the start: a 207-card special set covering every one of the original Kanto Pokémon, from Bulbasaur to Mew, rebuilt with Scarlet & Violet era illustration rares and special illustration rares. 3. Pokémon TCG Scarlet & Violet Prismatic Evolutions Elite Trainer Box

Prismatic Evolutions arrived on 17 January 2025 as a special set built around Eevee and all eight of its Evolutions, each given the Stellar Tera type as a Pokémon ex. Umbreon ex, Sylveon ex, Espeon ex and the rest share the spotlight, and the set includes Poké Ball and Master Ball holofoil variants.

4. Pokémon TCG Celebrations Elite Trainer Box

Five years before the 30th, Celebrations marked the 25th anniversary of Pokémon and of the trading card game itself. Released on 8 October 2021, it is a compact 50-card set: 25 new cards featuring legendary Pokémon and Flying and Surfing Pikachu, plus a 25-card Classic Collection of reprinted cards from the game's early years.
