Mega Charizard X ex #125 is the Special Illustration Rare version of Mega Charizard X ex from Phantasmal Flames, the English Pokémon TCG expansion released on 14 November 2025. It is the Special Illustration Rare print of the set's headline Pokémon, and in a PSA slab it arrives sealed, graded and ready to display.

This guide covers the PSA-graded Pokémon TCG Phantasmal Flames Mega Charizard X ex Special Illustration Rare #125, one of the slabs in the graded cards and slabs collection at PUSHAS. Below: the artist, the set, what the label tells you and how to look after the slab once it is yours.

The card and its illustrator

Mega Charizard X ex appears four times in Phantasmal Flames, as cards #13, #109, #125 and #130. Card #125 is the Special Illustration Rare, numbered 125/094, which places it beyond the 94-card main set among the secret rares. Each version carries 360 HP.

The #125 artwork is credited to danciao, a different artist from the one behind the regular, full art and Mega Hyper Rare prints. That gives the Special Illustration Rare its own artwork within the set, pairing the set's flagship Pokémon with a dedicated illustration rather than a reworked version of the standard card.

Mega Charizard X and the Mega Evolution return

The Mega Evolution series brought Mega Evolution back to the Pokémon TCG in 2025, this time as Mega Evolution Pokémon ex. The trade-off is built into the rules: when one is Knocked Out, the opponent takes three Prize cards.

Mega Charizard X is the flagship Mega Evolution of Phantasmal Flames, and the set gives it a full run of prints, from the regular card to the Special Illustration Rare and the Mega Hyper Rare.

Inside Phantasmal Flames

Phantasmal Flames is the second main expansion of the Mega Evolution series. It released in English on 14 November 2025 and draws on the Japanese Inferno X expansion. The English set runs to 130 cards: 94 in the main set and 36 secret rares, where #125 sits.

Alongside the expansion came the Mega Charizard X ex Ultra-Premium Collection, also released on 14 November 2025. It holds 18 booster packs, promo cards of Mega Charizard X ex and Oricorio ex, a playmat, a deck box, 65 card sleeves, a metal coin, six damage-counter dice and a Pokémon TCG Live code card.

What the PSA slab and label show

A PSA slab is a sealed, clear holder with a label at the top. On this one the label names the card, MEGA CHARIZARD X ex, SPECIAL ILLUSTRATION RARE, #125, and the grade.

On the PSA 10 the grade reads GEM MT 10. PSA calls a Gem Mint 10 a virtually perfect card, with sharp corners and original colour and gloss. A Mint 9 can show one minor flaw.

How to store and display a slab

A slab already protects the card, so the job is to protect the slab. A few suggestions:

  • Try a fitted slab sleeve or a padded graded-card case to keep the plastic free of scratches.
  • Store slabs upright in a box made for graded cards rather than stacked loose.
  • For display, a stand or wall frame away from direct sunlight and heat works well.
  • Handle by the edges and wipe the case with a soft microfibre cloth.
