Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 'Black White' stands as a timeless embodiment of Japanese sneaker heritage, fusing mid‑20th‑century athletic innovation with modern lifestyle appeal. Originally launched in 1966 as a performance trainer and later worn by athletes leading up to the 1968 Summer Olympics, the Mexico 66 silhouette was the first Onitsuka Tiger sneaker to feature the brand’s iconic Tiger Stripes, which would go on to define the identity of the entire label.
Overview
The Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 ‘Black White’ (style code 1183A349.101) retains the classic low‑profile cut that has made the model a cultural fixture for decades. Its clean white leather upper is accented with bold black signature stripes that wrap over the quarter panels, creating a sleek and versatile monochrome expression that pairs effortlessly with wardrobes across seasons. The design incorporates suede overlays and a padded tongue for authentic vintage character, while the rubber cup sole delivers lightweight comfort and everyday wearability. Over time this silhouette has transcended its athletic roots, becoming a staple in streetwear and fashion circles alike—a testament to its enduring design and broad appeal.
Key Highlights
• Heritage‑Driven Design: First introduced in 1966 and rooted in Olympic training, the Mexico 66 is historically significant as the inaugural sneaker to showcase the Tiger Stripes, a hallmark of the brand’s identity.
• Classic Black & White Colorway: The minimalist monochromatic palette enhances versatility, ensuring the sneaker complements a wide range of outfits from casual to elevated streetwear.
• Premium Materials: Crafted with a leather upper and suede detailing that honor the original silhouette’s construction while providing durability and comfort for daily use.
