The Air Jordan 1 Retro High 'Comme des Garçons White' (2019) reimagines the classic Air Jordan 1 silhouette through the avant-garde lens of Japanese fashion powerhouse Comme des Garçons. Released as part of a highly limited collaboration, this design bridges high fashion with streetwear, presenting a bold yet minimalist interpretation of the iconic high-top sneaker.
Overview
Unveiled at Paris Fashion Week and released in May 2019, the Air Jordan 1 Retro High 'Comme des Garçons White' features a striking triple-white construction that emphasizes texture over color. Constructed from smooth leather and durable nylon, the sneaker is defined by its layered aesthetic and military-inspired detailing. Velcro patches adorn the heel and ankle collars, while extended pull tabs and metal rivets reinforce its utilitarian appeal. The Comme des Garçons Homme Plus branding appears subtly on the Velcro ankle strap, adding a signature touch of the Japanese label’s experimental ethos. Unlike traditional Jordan 1s, this design strips back the iconic Wings logo and Nike Swoosh in favor of a futuristic and uniform silhouette. The result is a sneaker that is as much a fashion statement as it is a collectible piece in sneaker culture.
Key Highlights
• Limited-Edition Comme des Garçons Collaboration: Released in 2019 as part of CDG Homme Plus’ Paris Fashion Week presentation, emphasizing exclusivity and fashion-forward design.
• Triple-White Monochrome Aesthetic: Uses tonal leather and nylon overlays for a textural contrast that elevates the minimalistic approach.
• Military-Inspired Detailing: Features Velcro panels, pull tabs, and metal rivets, setting it apart from standard Air Jordan 1 releases.
