The ASICS Gel-Nimbus 10.1 'Black Clay Grey' revives a performance-running icon from the late 2000s, blending archival design language with modern lifestyle appeal. Drawing inspiration from the original 2008 GEL-NIMBUS 10, this updated silhouette reintroduces the model’s distinctive technical aesthetic while maintaining the comfort-focused engineering that made the franchise a staple in ASICS’ running lineup. The 'Black Clay Grey' colorway emphasizes the shoe’s layered construction and structural detailing, delivering a sleek, monochromatic look that reflects the brand’s heritage in performance footwear while fitting seamlessly into contemporary streetwear culture.
Overview
The ASICS Gel-Nimbus 10.1 'Black Clay Grey' features a deep black open-mesh base with a grid-like texture, providing breathability and a lightweight feel. Layered across the upper are matte and metallic synthetic overlays in Clay Grey, forming a structured, skeletal design that reinforces the shoe’s technical running heritage. ASICS’ signature Tiger Stripes integrate into the side panels with a subtle metallic finish, adding dimension while maintaining the understated palette.
Faithful to its archival roots, the silhouette retains the asymmetric upper design originally engineered to better accommodate the foot’s natural bone structure. Underfoot, the sneaker is equipped with a dual-layer EVA midsole combined with ASICS’ signature GEL cushioning in the forefoot and rearfoot for effective shock absorption and everyday comfort. A TRUSSTIC support system enhances midfoot stability, while the sculpted outsole pattern provides dependable traction. The Clay Grey midsole contrasts subtly against the black upper, completing the shoe’s refined technical aesthetic.
Key Highlights
• Archival GEL-NIMBUS Design Heritage: Inspired by the 2008 GEL-NIMBUS 10, preserving the silhouette’s asymmetric upper construction and late-2000s running DNA.
• Breathable Layered Mesh Upper: Black open-mesh base with structured Clay Grey synthetic overlays delivers durability, airflow, and a technical aesthetic.
• GEL Cushioning and TRUSSTIC Support: Dual-layer EVA midsole, rearfoot and forefoot GEL technology, and the TRUSSTIC system work together to provide shock absorption, comfort, and enhanced stability.
