The ASICS Gel-Cumulus 16 ‘Independence Blue’ (2025) revisits one of ASICS’ most respected neutral running silhouettes, bringing a heritage performance model back into focus through a refined, modern lens. Originally celebrated for its balanced cushioning and reliable everyday mileage comfort, the Gel-Cumulus 16 is reintroduced in a striking “Independence Blue” palette that amplifies its classic running DNA with a clean, athletic aesthetic. Built for runners who value consistency, comfort, and understated design, this edition underscores ASICS’ long-standing commitment to performance engineering grounded in practical innovation.
Overview
The Gel-Cumulus 16 is widely recognised for its smooth ride, combining ASICS’ signature GEL cushioning technology in both the rearfoot and forefoot to help absorb impact across long-distance runs. A lightweight yet supportive upper construction is designed to promote breathability and a secure fit, while the midsole structure delivers a balanced blend of softness and responsiveness suitable for daily training. The “Independence Blue” colourway enhances the model’s retro-running identity, offering a refreshed visual expression without compromising its performance-first foundation. Staying true to its original design intent, this release continues to emphasise comfort-driven engineering and dependable cushioning that made the Gel-Cumulus line a staple for neutral runners.
