Pokémon 151 and Prismatic Evolutions are two special sets from the Scarlet & Violet era with very different themes. 151 released in English on 22 September 2023 and brings back the original 151 Kanto Pokémon, while Prismatic Evolutions released on 17 January 2025 and centers on Eevee and its eight evolutions. Pick 151 for Kanto nostalgia and a full Pokédex binder, and Prismatic Evolutions for the Eeveelutions and its patterned reverse holos.

The easiest way into 151 is the Pokémon TCG Scarlet & Violet 151 Mini Tin: two packs, an Energy coin and an art card in a tin small enough to sit on a shelf. It is live now in the Pokémon trading cards range at PUSHAS, and every box is sealed and authenticated by hand, with both sets represented from tins through to premium collections.

What each set is

151 was the first special set of the Scarlet & Violet era. Its theme is simple: every Pokémon in the set is from Generation I, covering the original Kanto Pokédex from Bulbasaur to Mew. It has 207 cards in total, with 165 in the main set and 42 secret rares, and its headline Pokémon ex include Venusaur ex, Charizard ex, Blastoise ex and Mew ex.

Prismatic Evolutions is also a special set, and it narrows the focus further. Eevee and all eight of its evolutions, from Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon through Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon and Sylveon, appear with the Stellar Tera Type. The set has 180 cards, with 131 in the main set and 49 secret rares, and it draws on the Japanese Terastal Festival ex set, with some cards from the Japanese ex Starter Deck Generations. If you want the full release order around both, the Scarlet & Violet sets in order guide places them in context.

How the cards and artwork differ

The appeal of 151 is completeness. Because it covers a single generation, collectors can build a binder that mirrors the original Pokédex page by page, and the Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle evolution lines each appear among the rarer cards. It suits anyone who grew up with Red and Blue and wants that line-up rendered in modern illustration rare artwork.

Prismatic Evolutions focuses on variety within one family. Alongside the regular reverse holo, cards can turn up in two extra parallel patterns with a Poké Ball or a Master Ball in the background, which gives the same Eeveelution several looks across a binder page.

The products compared

Both sets share the same core formats, which makes a like-for-like choice easy. The standard Elite Trainer Box for each holds nine booster packs, 65 card sleeves, 45 Basic Energy cards, dice and dividers. The 151 Elite Trainer Box adds an illustration rare-style Snorlax promo, and the Prismatic Evolutions Elite Trainer Box adds an illustration rare-style Eevee promo.

At the premium end, the 151 Ultra Premium Collection is built around Mew: sixteen booster packs, a metal Mew ex card, a special illustration rare-style Mew ex promo, an illustration rare-style Mewtwo promo, a playmat, a deck box and a metal coin. The Prismatic Evolutions Super Premium Collection, released on 16 May 2025, has fifteen booster packs, an illustration rare-style Eevee promo, an Eevee-themed plush deck box, a playmat and 65 sleeves. Our ranking of the best Pokémon Ultra Premium Collections goes deeper on the premium tier.

For smaller openings, the 151 mini tins came in ten designs, each with two packs, an Energy coin and matching art card. The Prismatic Evolutions Mini Tin also holds two packs with a matching art card, and the Prismatic Evolutions Booster Bundle holds six booster packs. If you are still weighing formats, the Elite Trainer Box vs booster box vs booster bundle guide breaks down each one.

Which to open

For players, either Elite Trainer Box is the most complete kit: nine packs plus the sleeves, Energy and accessories to start building a deck. For display collectors, the premium boxes include exclusive promos, with Mew and Mewtwo for 151 and Eevee for Prismatic Evolutions. For gifts, a mini tin in either set is a neat, self-contained present. Every 151 product is covered in Pokémon 151: every product explained.
