The New Balance 2002R JJJJound 'Storm Blue' (2023) represents a refined continuation of the long-standing partnership between New Balance and Montreal-based design studio JJJJound, known globally for its understated, utilitarian aesthetic. Rooted in precision, restraint, and timeless design, this release elevates the performance-driven 2002R silhouette through a carefully curated palette and premium material execution, reinforcing its status as a modern essential within the lifestyle sneaker market.
Overview
The New Balance 2002R JJJJound ‘Storm Blue’ is constructed with a breathable mesh base in a muted storm blue tone, complemented by layered suede and synthetic overlays that maintain the silhouette’s technical heritage. Staying true to JJJJound’s minimalist philosophy, branding is intentionally subtle, with tonal “N” logos and discreet JJJJound text at the heel. Performance remains central to the design, as the sneaker incorporates New Balance’s proven cushioning technologies, including ABZORB SBS in the heel and N-ergy shock absorption throughout the midsole. A stability web shank provides added arch support, while the segmented outsole ensures durability and traction for everyday wear. The result is a sneaker that seamlessly balances archival running DNA with contemporary design sensibilities.
Key Highlights
• JJJJound Minimalist Design Language: Muted storm blue tones and restrained branding reflect the collaboration’s signature understated aesthetic.
• Performance-Driven Comfort: Features ABZORB SBS cushioning and N-ergy technology for impact absorption and long-lasting comfort.
• Heritage New Balance 2002R Silhouette: Combines early-2000s running design with modern lifestyle versatility and premium materials.
