The Nike Kobe 5 Protro 'X-Ray' (HJ4303-400) is a deep royal blue Kobe 5 printed with an X-ray foot graphic. Released on 17 October 2024, it references Nike's 'Broken Not Beaten' shirt showing an X-ray of Kobe Bryant's hand wearing five championship rings.
Overview
The 'Broken Not Beaten' shirt marked Kobe Bryant's fifth NBA title with the Lakers and nodded to the hand injuries he played through, including fractures, dislocations and torn ligaments. Vanessa Bryant previewed the Kobe 5 Protro X-Ray in March 2024 before its October release.
The official colourway is Deep Royal Blue/Baltic Blue-Glacier Blue. The deep royal blue upper carries a visible foot radiograph motif, a concept that draws on Nike's 'Skeleton' Air Force 1 series. Baltic Blue Swooshes are outlined in white, and a semi-translucent outsole glows in the dark. As a Protro, it pairs the low-cut Kobe 5 shape with Zoom Air cushioning.
The Kobe 5 X-Ray works on court and off it. The blue tonal palette sits well with navy, grey and black, and the glow outsole gives it a detail most colourways lack.
