The Air Jordan 4 Retro 'Alternate 89' (2016) pays homage to one of the most iconic eras in Michael Jordan’s career, drawing direct inspiration from the Chicago Bulls’ legendary team colors. Released as part of Jordan Brand’s “Alternate” collection in January 2016, the sneaker reimagines what player-exclusive styles might have looked like if MJ had worn alternate colorways on court. By fusing heritage design with striking color blocking, the 'Alternate 89' stands out as both a collector’s item and a bold statement piece in the Air Jordan 4 lineage.
Overview
Dressed in a clean white leather upper, the Air Jordan 4 Retro 'Alternate 89' features vibrant Gym Red accents across the midsole, inner lining, lace tabs, and branding. The red details create a sharp contrast against the white base, evoking the Chicago Bulls’ unmistakable palette. Black elements are minimized, allowing the red-and-white theme to dominate, offering a fresh yet nostalgic nod to Jordan’s first years in Chicago. Staying true to the Air Jordan 4’s classic design, signature features such as mesh side panels, visible Air cushioning in the heel, and the iconic Jumpman logos remain intact. The result is a sneaker that merges performance heritage with off-court appeal, embodying the timeless versatility of the Air Jordan 4.
Key Highlights
• Chicago-Inspired Colorway: White and Gym Red palette pays tribute to Michael Jordan’s early years with the Chicago Bulls.
• Premium Leather Upper: Smooth white leather construction with durable overlays ensures both comfort and longevity.
• Classic Air Jordan 4 Design: Retains signature details such as mesh side panels, TPU lace wings, and visible Air cushioning for lightweight support.
